R80-00 for 20 washes
I bought these pods, which are not cheap, but I feel that if I can find a eco-friendly, biodegradable, machine dishwashing product that actually cleans, it would be worth it. Plus we are looking at putting in a eco-friendly grey and black water system, and I would like to make sure that I am using fully eco proudcts.
These pods do clean, probably the best of all the green products that I have tried so far. I did find that there was a build up of ‘fat scum’ in the trap, which also happened with a previous eco-friendly ones that I had tried, but the dishes were clean and the glasses clear.
The one thing that I have learnt though on my quest for true eco-friendly products that really work, is that what you see advertised can mean everything, very little or nothing at all!
Therefore my one concern about these products was just how ‘earth friendly’ is the Woolworths range? The packaging of the Woolworths Earth Friendly range states:
- Made with biodegradable ingredients
- Made with naturally derived ingredients
Just how much was biodegradable and natural was my concern! Some of the ingredients on the packaging sound so scientific that my head immedicately goes into a spin. On a google search, a variety of info came up. As usual some for and some against. So I decided to write to Woolworths myself:
COULD YOU PLEASE TELL WHAT PERCENTAGE OF BIODEGRADABLE INGREDIENTS YOUR VARIOUS EARTH FRIENDLY PRODUCTS CONTAIN. I KNOW YOU HAVE MANY PRODUCTS, SO GENERALLY FROM HOME CARE TO PERSONAL CARE, IS IT 1% OR 100%? ALSO ARE THESE PRODUCTS QUITE SAFE TO USE IN SEPTIC TANKS AND GREY WATER SYSTEMS?
LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR REPLY
Thank you so much for bringing your query regarding the earth friendly products to our attention.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in replying to you.
All ingredients are made from natural derived materials and are biodegradable. The earth friendly range of cleaning material is safe for use in septic tanks.
Trust that this information will be of assistance.

I did reply back to customer services:
Many thanks. So with regards to my question. Are 100% of the ingredients of ALL your Earth Friendly Range of products biodegradable, septic tank safe etc. or does it vary in the different ranges? If it does vary can you be more specific as to which products are not 100%.?
Many thanks again for your reply.
Look forward to hearing back from you with these concerns
I am still waiting there reply and will update this post if or when I do.
I did notice however that the body products contain SLS’s and so personally I feel that I would like to do a little more research into ALL the ingredients in ALL of their products, to satisfy my own curiosity and peace of mind.
Please let me know if you have any personal knowledge on the ‘greeness’ of these products. While I support companies trying to help to keep us and our environment safe, I know from first hand experience that you can not just take packaging at face value. There is far too much green-washing out there.
So Woolworths, just how green are your Earth Friendly products? Time will tell.
